Learning from my mistakes
sometime my best shots are from my mistakes. since i'm fairly new to DSLR or photography in general ( i didn't even own any type of camera about 10 months ago) i make tons of mistakes which gave me plenty of examples of what NOT to do. in order to salvage some of my mistake, b/c i was tired of throwing away so many photos, i had to learn how to use Photoshop. two recent examples are these photos that i would normally trashed:

I like the second one best, it's truly art.
You're progressing well for so little time
with a camera!
I've only been shooting since February myself,
absolutely adore my new passion though
photoshop truly does perform miracles doesn't it? eheh great job jason and thanks for coming by!
photoshop is a tool just like a great lens, keep using it to your advantage!
nice job w/ photoshop
You really did a great job with that first one
How did you do the second one?
since my photo was overexposed, i tone it down my adjusting the Hue to a blue color. added a layer mask and put the skin tone back in. the trick here is to not add the skin tone so evenly, i like to make it uneven and "blotchy" to simulate a painting. then i use the "painting with light" (one of my favorite technique now) from Scott Robert Lim's phototools123.com to seperate the subject from the background.
Wow, good job recovering those photos! I'm a photoshop junkie myself.
Isn't photoshop great? I'm always finding new stuff to do with it too. Keep up the good work and just keep shooting, some of my best shots have been mistakes.
